Our Work in Support of the Park

As the Official Philanthropic Fundraising Partner to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, the Friends play a unique role in supporting the Park through programming, funds, volunteerism and education.

The Friends support park operation projects that go beyond what government funding and entrance fees can provide. We sponsor, co-sponsor and facilitate community programs for all ages to experience the unique beauty of Hawaii Volcanoes and participate in preserving our beautiful park.

Forest Restoration

Forest Restoration Projects help protect precious native forest ecosystems and the rare koa-'öhi'a forests. Projects include native seed collection, invasive species removal, and seedling planting.

After Dark in the Park

The Friends co-sponsor this free lecture series held every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Kilauea Visitor Center auditorium. Topics include current and historical eruptions of the volcanoes, but also Hawaiian culture and history, native and endemic flora and fauna, and much more.
