OUR MISSION
To support the National Park Service in the protection, preservation, and interpretation of the natural and cultural resources at Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park for the enjoyment of current and future generations.

Guardians of the Trails engages motivated young adults ages 18-30 to complete challenging and impactful conservation and service projects throughout Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park.
Project work may vary due to changes in environmental safety concern’s.
Projects the crew typically works will include:
- Trail construction and maintenance
- Invasive species management including pesticide application
- Habitat restoration
- Traffic control relief
Participation Behavior
- Work effectively as a member of a team
- Contribute to safe learning environment, no harassment of others for any reason
- Participate in all aspects of program, including service projects, education, training and organization events.
- Effective communication
- Learn skills and apply them to carry out service projects effectively
- Always appropriately represent the program while on service projects or during events
